Abstract

Consensus and control in networked highway vehicle platoons has been identified as a promising framework in developing intelligent transportation systems. In VANET environment, an information harmonized platoon can potentially offer enhanced safety, improved highway utility, increased fuel economy, and reduced emission. This paper is focused on available information harmonization and its request/response schema. Theoretical analysis and simulation verification show the enhancement of platoon safety as well as improvement of highway and communication resources usage. The analysis and design of Information Harmonizer Module provide useful guidelines in communication resource allocations and vehicle coordinations in intelligent transportation problems.
