Abstract
This article compares rates of domestic violence among African American females to those of other populations. Tamborra explores socioeconomic factors that must be considered along with race. Cultural or historical influences affect how African-American females use or hesitate to use law enforcement, shelters, court advocacy, counseling and community programs when they are affected by domestic violence.
