Abstract
The primary goal of this course is to educate oral health care professionals (OHCP’s) about the emerging diagnosis and prevalence of patients with Metabolic syndrome (MetS) , and its impact on oral and systemic health. The secondary goal is to present practical and evidence-based clinical guidelines and strategies that can assist oral health care professionals when treating patients with MetS and/or its associated risk factors. Comprised of a group of co-existing risk factors, this syndrome predisposes patients to coronary artery disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
