Abstract
This study will look at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict which has been waging on for centuries, since biblical times in the Torah, Bible, and the Quran. The historical conflict began in 1948 with the establishment of the state of Israel when thousands of Jewish people escaped due to persecution in Europe during World War II. While the Jewish people were looking to go back to their biblical home, Arab nations saw this establishment of Israel as an injustice to Palestine and its people. There has been a lack of consensus on what should be done between Israel and Palestine. While some research has analyzed the regional factors that have sent Israel and Palestine into a never ending conflict, there needs to be more research done on what deeper causes have led to the clash between Israel and Palestine. There also needs to be research on the potential solutions such as spreading knowledge of not only the regional conflict but the two ethnic and religious groups at the heart of it. The proposed methodology will comprise of surveys conducted on college students between the ages of 18-24 to better understand how such a specific demographic views the relationship between religion and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The surveys will consist of questions based on how well students understand the concept, their opinions on each government, the type of solutions they support in the conflict, and how western nations shall be a part of the solution. Through this proposed research, it will allow for a more elaborate understanding of how the current generation views conflicts in the Middle East, specifically Israel and Palestine. This research will also inform individuals and educate them on an issue that is not spoken of and taught enough in the United States.
