Abstract
Issues related to gathering and assessing competitive intelligence are reviewed. The issue of competitive intelligence seems to be an area where management will be forced to place more emphasis, as global competition increases and technology continues to advance. Some of the competitive intelligence issues that will continue to be a struggle for many companies include:1.whatneedsto be collected,2.whoorwhat functions should be responsible for intelligence efforts, and3.howoneensures that intelligence is disseminated to appropriate managers timely. Management must realize that it is not enough to simply obtain piles of data. They must push to develop competitive intelligence capabilities that will enable them to filter through the noise and find and analysts the relevant facts.
