Abstract

Book description: This book explores the ways governments manage public employees in developing countries, and how this in turn impacts on the success of national development and governance strategies. It presents seven in-depth case studies from developing countries in Africa and Asia and proposes ways forward for Human Resource Management in developing countries.

Chapter quote: “This is the first of three chapters which explore the politics that underlies public staff management. It aims to establish the intimate way in which Moroccan politics affects staff management, a function which readers from a management background might expect to be the domain of pure ‘good practice.’”—p. 96.
